sqft × climate factor

1 · Paint — gallons

Formula: (area−openings)×coats ÷ coverage. Standard latex ≈350 sqft/gal; porous walls use 300.

2 · Tile — boxes

3 · Concrete — 60/80-lb bags

Volume ft³=L×W×(D/12). 80-lb bag ≈0.6 ft³, 60-lb ≈0.45 ft³. Add 5% waste.

4 · Mulch — cubic yards

5 · Wallpaper — rolls

Drops = ceil(totalWidth ÷ rollWidth); each drop wastes one repeat. +10% trim included in buy-up.

6 · Fence — pickets, rails, posts, concrete

7 · Laminate — packs

8 · Drywall — 4×8 sheets

Sheet = 32 sqft. Add 10% cuts; subtract large openings first.

9 · Deck — boards

Rows = width ÷ (board+gap); boards = rows × length ÷ board length, +10%.

10 · Raised-bed soil — cubic yards

yd³ = L×W×(D/12) ÷ 27. Example 8×4×1ft = 32 ft³ = 1.19 yd³.

11 · Heater BTU + running cost

BTU = sqft × factor. kW = BTU ÷ 3412. Mini-splits: 9k/12k/18k/24k BTU pick first size above need.

Methodology

Generic rates, adjustable. Paint 350 sqft/gal; tile/flooring/wallpaper +10%; concrete 0.6/0.45 ft³ per 80/60-lb bag +5%; fence posts every 8 ft, 2–3 bags 50-lb per post standard. Always verify with your product label. Keywords: how many gallons / bags / rolls / pickets do I need.
